Poem: “The Demons”

Posted by

(Note: I’ve had some intense dreams/fantasies the last few days, that my unconscious mind is trying to work out. This poem came from that place. Apologies in advance for the stark nature of the images)

The Demons

In the black sea

Swimming in the murky bottoms

I see myself as I am:

Hideous with

Fear

Sharp teeth exposed

Ready to swallow

With eyes that shimmer

Like charcoal

Blades that stab

My underbelly

The moment has arrived

Where safety means

Nothingness

The dark void of an

empty soul

Of a meaningless existence

I hate that I am here

Today

The black sun bakes

My innards spillng out

Intestines spilled out

When will the darkness end

I suppose it never will.
